Congratulations kiwis – there were NO car accident fatalities this Queen’s Birthday weekend! This is a ‘first’ since road accident reporting started in NZ in the 1950’s. We’re hoping the safe driving message is gaining traction and that the trend will continue. The total number of road fatalities is down for the year-to-date too, at 104, and is the lowest for some time. That’s still 104 tragedies for family and friends, so please be careful on our roads especially in this wild winter weather. Keep your distance & drive to the conditions – 5 minutes late for that meeting is not ideal, but at least you’ll be there.
